So what kind of question is that?

The more I learn about the technicalities of performing music, the more I come to realize the arbitrariness of the pleasure experienced from listening to music.  I’ve got to be honest.  I’ve been playing a long time but I have been listening longer.

The fact of the matter is, as a player we strive to learn about the complexity of notes, chords, scales and such but as a listener, we look for the familiarity and how it pares with the anticipation of what we have heard and are hearing.  We derive excitement from how different what we hear is from we expected to hear.     (Click here to read more….)
