Dear Mr. Postman

Dear Mr. Postman,

What I have got to tell you is very difficult.  You are going to be out of work within the next couple of years.  I know this is going to be hard for you to take … it is never easy, but the signs are all there.

In 2010, the cost of sending one Megabyte of wireless data fell to about $.05.  There are 4543 words in the U.S. Constitution, which in Adobe format is 104 KB, and takes about 2 seconds to download.  One can download the Constitution roughly 10 times in 20 seconds for about a $.05.

It has been reported that during the next 8 years, the amount of digital data produced will exceed 40 Zettabytes, the equivalent of 5,200 Gigabytes for every man, woman, and child on Earth.  40 Zettabytes is the equivalent of 40 trillion gigabytes!
