Amazon eases supercomputing wait times with virtual machine
Amazon has created a virtual supercomputer that can complete about 240 trillion calculations in a second using 17,000 cores. The device is designed to address the demand for advanced computing time in the medical and scientific research communities. The high-performance machine runs on Amazon Web Services Elastic Compute Cloud and ranks 42nd fastest among the world’s supercomputers. It’s available for $1,279 per hour, or $11 million annually for full-time use. eWeek.com (12/30) |
